The Baja California SDG Monitoring Dashboard is an interactive platform that translates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into local, actionable data. By tracking specific targets across the state’s seven municipalities, this tool provides leaders, researchers, and citizens with the evidence needed to drive inclusive and sustainable growth. This Dashboard connects directly to the progress of each Goal of the 17 SDGs.

Key Features of the Platform

Interactive State and Municipal Mapping:
Visualize how different regions of Baja California are performing across key indicators. The dashboard allows users to toggle between municipalities to view localized trends in poverty, employment, infrastructure, and more.
Inside the Goals: Data Granularity and Progress Tracking:
Each Sustainable Development Goal is supported by a robust set of localized indicators that provide a high-resolution view of progress across Baja California. Rather than relying on broad averages, the framework uses specific metrics, such as extreme poverty rates (1.1.1) or access to basic services (1.4.1), to pinpoint where interventions are succeeding. To make this data actionable, every indicator is color-coded based on its trajectory toward the 2030 targets:
- Green (Cerca del objetivo): The metric is nearing the established target.
- Purple (En camino al objetivo): Progress is being made, but accelerated efforts are required.
- Gray (Informativo): Supplementary data provided for essential context and policy analysis.
Projections to 2030:
The platform doesn’t just show where the state is; it shows where it is going. Using historical data, the dashboard extrapolates current trends to identify which municipalities are on track to meet the 2030 targets and where urgent intervention is required.

The indicators showcased in this dashboard are not mere estimates; they are grounded in rigorous data harmonization from Mexico’s leading statistical authorities. The research team integrates data from:

INEGI (Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía): For primary demographic and economic datasets.
CONEVAL (Consejo Nacional de Evaluación de la Política de Desarrollo Social): Specifically for multidimensional poverty measurements and social indicators.
BANXICO (El Banco de México) & SEMARNAT (The Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales): For financial and environmental monitoring.

Aligning these official sources with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) guidelines ensures that all metrics are comparable at both the municipal and global levels.
