The dashboard translates the globally agreed Sustainable Development Goals into metrics that can guide decisions and progress of Baja California’s communities
The Baja California SDG Monitoring Dashboard is a joint initiative of the Secretaría de Economía e Innovación de Baja California (SEI‑BC) and the SDG Policy Initiative (SDGPI) at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy & Strategy. It localizes the United Nations 2030 Agenda by tracking Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets at the municipal level across Baja California. The dashboard allows policymakers, businesses, and civil‑society leaders to visualize progress, identify gaps, and design evidence‑based interventions that leave no one behind. In its pilot phase it focuses on three SDGs most closely linked to the state’s economic strategy:
SDG 1 • End poverty
SDG 8 • Decent work & economic growth
SDG 9 • Industry, innovation & infrastructure
A second phase expansion to the full set of 17 SDGs is planned for 2025‑26.
Why It Matters
Global goals → Local relevance : Translating the SDGs to Baja California’s municipal context turns high‑level commitments into actionable targets that resonate with local realities.
Data‑driven policy‑making: The dashboard equips state and municipal governments with timely, comparable indicators to guide budgets, monitor programs, and evaluate impact.
Inclusive growth: By spotlighting poverty, decent work, and industrial innovation, the dashboard aligns economic competitiveness with social inclusion and environmental stewardship.
